This week’s episode is about feeling better about making long-term decisions.
Investing for the long-term can be difficult because of a phenomenon called “present bias”. Where we as human beings to give more weight to present costs relative to the rewards that we might get into the future.
This week’s episode is about developing a strong payday routine to manage salaries responsibly. To me that can be summarised as one that is simple, sustainable and agreed in advance of actual payday.
This episode is dedicated to giving ourselves the space to think equally about what impacts our income – such as taxes and debt payments – which will be acting as a drag on any investments we wish to make. That is why in personal finance it is so crucial to do things in a certain order.
This week’s episode is about reflecting on another important concept in our financial mindset as Muslims.
And that is the concept of having Tawakkul – this relates to the idea of “tying your camel” which is in fact the tagline for Nisa Invest. So this week we will be discussing the ways in which we can be more intentional when it comes to managing our wealth.
Q26: More on financial literacy – halal ways of spending and saving.
In answer to this question we focus more on how what are the fundamentals of personal finance. These fundamentals are all about increasing your financial resilience. So that’s looking at your emergency fund and then also giving yourself room to breathe when it comes to your fixed expenses.
Q25: Which investment platform / sites do you use?
One question is what to invest in, the other question is where do you go to invest? In this episode we go through four platforms that offer shariah compliant investment options and compare and contrast them.
Q24: How do you invest when all you have done is save?
One of the first theories I developed as a financial planner is that getting yourself to a position where you are investing consistently and for the long-term is a great financial goal to have.
In this episode we talk about how what it means to be in this position by having an emergency fund, being debt free and making investing a part of your well-balanced budget.

NHS pensions are a type of “defined benefit” pension – what does that mean and how do they work?
It seems simple, but when it comes to retirement the important question to ask is what does what I am doing today mean for how much I will have when I retire?
In this episode we go through this by understanding how the NHS pension is structured, how are the contributions made through your payslip connected to your pension benefits and what are the best practices?
This episode is for information purposes only and I hope you find this helpful iA
Q21: Ways to train ourselves to be mindful about expenses and avoid spending for no reason (latest phones etc.)
In this episode we are going to be focusing more on the spending aspect of our financial lives. In my view, no one is born being “good” with money. A lot of our habits are learnt, they develop over time and without us noticing. Being mindful about money ensures we remain in control, rather than the other way around.
Q18: I would like to know more about taxes and tax returns
Happy New Tax Year!
Last week was the start of the new tax year in the UK and so to get it started on the right foot inshAllah this episode covers all things tax codes, tax allowances and tax returns.
